High School Division Mainland had organised a 2 days and 1night Kuala Gula trip on 14th Aug - 15th Aug 2010. We had a total about 40 High School Division members & PICs joining the outing. We arrived at Kuala Gula on Saturday at 10.30am by cars. As all hsd members are so excited and looking forward for the trip, we quickly checked in into our rented house to unload our luggages.

We started off our outing with a study on Daisaku Ikeda Peace Proposal 2010. In this context, we studied in details on th key message of Ikeda sensei peace proposal on nihilism and pessimism values exists deep in our current society and how we could have a paradigm shift in mindset to accept good values in our lives. We understand here and now that we can make the change and towards creation of good values in our lives and live our life in a contributive way. We also discussed on nuclear weapons progress worldwide and how to further accelerate the nuclear abolition and clarify the illegality of usage of nuclear weapons. Besides, Ikeda sensei also stress the importance of women and children in our society and how to provide opportunities and platform for each individual to develop ourselves.

In the afternoon, we went to visit a museum to learn about the Kuala Gula Bird Sanctuary. Every year, there is about 200,000 birds will visit Kuala Gula beginning September month. Kuala Gula is one of the best manage bird santuary in Malaysia and play an important role is birds eco system. At 5pm, we went out to the Kuala Gula mangrove area with fisherman boats for bird watching session. It was indeed an eye opening for hsd members on the importance of the balance eco-system in our environment between human and nature.

At night, we have small groups discussion among hsd members to share among ourselves on our past, present and future. Each hsd members will draw out their past, present and future in a piece of paper and share out in small groups. It was a great sharing session and learning experience for all hsd members.

On the next day, we have an experience sharing by Yee Yeen about her struggle in her studies and family during high school division days. Through the strong faith and practice of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism, she manage to overall all the obstacles and now graduated from UUM recently. We continue with a small group discussions after the experience sharing. In the afternoon, we went to visit a pig poultry farm and also a small factory that produce salted duck eggs. Our trip ends after the factory visit and we arrive back to BTCC ~4pm.
